Visual Phase: very deep cherry. Shiny and clean. Olfactory phase: Very Complex and intense, ripe dark fruit powerful bouquet, fine touch of toasted oak, spice, menthol, minerals, and thyme. Gustatory phase: it is meaty, with ripe and oily tannins. Elegant at the entrance, incredible evolution in the mouth with a wide variety expression. Balsam, minerals and spices tones come together with tobacco and fine chocolates from the long upbringing in new oak. Great flavours with a long and intense lingering finish.
Wine Spectator 87 points - Earthy, iron and sanguine flavors give this red an austere character, while muscular tannins mask the black cherry and licorice notes. A tough, grizzled wine that delivers more character than pleasure. Decant. Drink now through 2016. 170 cases imported.-TM

Wine Advocate 92 points - The 2004 Cyan Seleccion Personal Carlos Moro comes from Pago de la Calera from vines planted in 1928 and represents a personal selection by winemaker Carlos Moro of the finest barrels, equivalent to 990 bottles. It sees 22 months in oak and another 48 in bottle. It has a ripe bouquet of mulberry, menthol, Indian ink and Asian spices that is reminiscent of a mature, modern style Rioja -- well-defined and unfurling nicely in the glass. The palate is full-bodied with succulent ripe tannins: layers of sweet red fruit laced with orange peel, mint, marmalade and citrus peel. The finish is a little heady but controlled, with a lingering, sweet but not overwhelming aftertaste. Delicious. Drink now-2020+ (Apr 2013)
This wine is part of a limited edition of 990 bottles from the own selection of Carlos Moro among the best stocks of Pago de la Calera, with a length of 90 years and the most selected barrels of Cyan Winery

|The CYAN winery is one of the most prestigious and recognised wineries in the eyes of national and international critics because of the quality of the wines it has made since it was founded in 1999.
Just 12 km from the town of Toro in the province of Zamora, the landscape has the characteristic form of the rolling hills of this region. The winery is located on the road between Toro and Venialbo, just outside the village of Valdefinjas. It is made up of three buildings, one of them half buried where the casks rest, while the other two crown a hill that gives a marvellous view of the area and its vineyards.
The estate is made up of 100 hectares of vineyards, olive groves and pinewoods that give the land very special characteristics for producing high-quality wine.
The red Tinta de Toro grape and the traditional production method allow for these wines to be kept for a long time.
The winery’s modern facilities are equipped with the necessary machinery to attain the final objective: the highest possible quality. It has 600 casks, most of French oak. Production barely exceeds 150,000 bottles a year, an amount that enables us to maintain a quality standard that few wineries in the D.O. Toro can reach. All CYAN wines are produced using a selection table to ensure that all the grapes that go into the tanks are of the very highest quality.
