This Beaune « Les Epenottes » has a very beautiful rubyred colour. The nose is crystallized cherry, black fruits
(blackcurrant and blackberry) with toasted notes (hazelnuts, chocolate). The mouth is generous and well-structured with blended tannins. Pleasant finish with violet and liquorice notes.
Beaune is the historical capital of Burgundy wines and for over a Century the Albert Bichot wine house is situated in its centre. To the south of the Beaune appellation the ”Les Epenottes” vineyard plot is located on the border of the
Pommard appellation. It is therefore unsurprising that its’ terroir is very similar to the vigour of the neighbouring Pommard ”Epenots” appellation but with a more feminine touch, finer structure and a subtle silkiness. Our vineyard plot is situated on clay-and-limestone soil, orientated South-east which ensures optimal ripening of the grapes. Most of the vineyard names derived from the word epine (thorn) designate places where a variety of thorny trees, shrubs and bushes once grew.
|Sweet potato gratin with streaky bacon, stuffed pigeon, duck stew.... numerous simple but refined dishes will enhance the aromatic nuances of this delicate wine. For the cheese platter we recommend a Brie de Meaux or a mild Cantal.
