Wine maker notes
The Saint-Tropez Peninsula with the maritime influence benefits not only from very mild temperatures all year round but also from the greatest amount of sunshine in France (2800 to 3000 hours per year). This climate favors optimal maturation of both Grenache and Cinsault. The vineyards are protected by the surrounding mountains, which help to moderate the cold northerly Mistral wind.
Soil is volcanic origin, primarily Gneiss, and Maures with sandy topsoil.
Grapes are hand picked at night to insure freshness. Grapes are immediately direct pressed in pneumatic press to retain primary aromas. No maceration takes place to preserve elegance. The resulting wine is cold fermented between 13-16°C for 15 days.
(50% Grenache/50% Cinsault). The vineyard, located on the Saint-Tropez peninsula, is planted on clay and limestone soils. The grapes were hand-picked at night to retain freshness, gently pressed and cold fermented in stainless steel.
Loosely translated, Loca Linda means “crazy in a good way.” The same could be said for the winemaking philosophy of owner Brian Smith and his wife Gina – despite the naysayers, they’ve found a way to produce a high-quality, expressive, hand-crafted wine at an approachable price point. A Master Sommelier with experience at some of the finest dining establishments in the US, Brian’s intention is to create terroir-driven wines of character. To that end, he leveraged his knowledge and industry contacts in Argentina to identify high altitude vineyards with well-draining alluvial soils and impeccably pure water. As part of their sustainable winemaking philosophy, Brian and Gina use lightweight, eco-friendly one liter bottles which contain more wine, but involve less waste.
