Larry Cherubino Wines was founded in 2005 by Larry and Edwina Cherubino with the release of 1 wine - a single vineyard 100% Shiraz from Frankland River.
Nestled in the Great Southern wine region of Western Australia it is a relatively unknown wine region – doing great things for the local community. Since then the portfolio has grown into five ranges of wine: Ad Hoc; The Yard; Pedestal; Laissez Faire; and the premium range, Cherubino.
Larry Cherubino Wines were awarded ‘Winery of the Year’ in James Halliday’s 2011 Wine Companion, following up with Matt Skinner’s 2011 Producer of the Year. Since the beginnings, Larry’s wines have never, not been in the spotlight. Every year gaining more recognition – with last year’s Wine Companion being no different. Larry Cherubino Wines was awarded the most points in the history of the James Halliday Wine Companion guides (established in 1986). Larry’s wines continue to receive consistently high ratings and reviews from around the country and internationally.
The Cherubino’s own the vineyard in Frankland River, which is the focus for their premium wines. In addition to this, fruit is also sourced from all across the great south-west of Western Australia. These more specifically from: Margaret River, Pemberton and the Porongurup’s.
There is a penchant for making traditional varieties best suited to these regions, as well as experimenting with new varietals – the latter being the most recent and exciting additions to the Larry Cherubino Wines portfolio. The Laissez Faire range of wines was born in 2010 - thus providing Larry with a range of wines with little to no interference from the typical winemaking preservatives. Laissez Faire wines are our most ‘Natural,’ the most exciting and experimental of Larry’s wines.
Larry’s winemaking philosophy is very simple; he spends most of the year focusing on vineyards and grapes ensuring that only the best fruit ends up in the winery. This enables him to showcase regional and varietal pairings, whilst highlighting the excellance from single vineyards in Western Australia.
