The Grenache, which makes up the majority of the blend, brings explosive fruit and good color from its thick skins. The Syrah adds a touch of acidity which complements the blend. A nice garnet color with a nose of black olive and pepper. The palate has a precise attack, fleshy and rich with youthful vigor.
In 2004, Jean-Francois Ranvier partnered with his childhood friend, Francois Dauvergne to create their own negociant company. After having worked at more than 50 cellars in the Rhone, Jean-Francois leveraged his relationships in the region to forge long-term contracts with farmers for superior fruit. The wines are vinified and aged at the individual properties under the careful stewardship of Francois and Jean-Francois. To date Dauvergne Ranvier has successfully partnered with more than 40 properties, some of whom have entrusted the pair with farming and managing their best sites. There are three categories within the portfolio: Vin Gourmand (entry level) and two premium labels, Vin Rare and Grand Vin. The objective of Dauvergne Ranvier is to create wines that are authentic representations of terroir and vintage.
