On the eye
A clear, golden Champagne robe par excellence. Delicate and fine bubbles resulting from an extended maturation time.
On the nose
Fresh fruit dominates, with pear and russet apple, and a few hints of citrus fruits such as star fruit. The finish evokes fresh grapes, livened with hints of freshness and aniseed.
On the palate
A structured, full-bodied and franc wine. A juicy, fleshy pear and golden grape texture. The finish narrows to citrus and grapefruit flavours. A wine with great fruit, a good mouthfeel and a harmonious balance.
Vinous 89 points - (55% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier; L130419 3867): Light gold, with a hint of onion skin. Toasty, lees-accented orange and white peach on the deeply scented nose. Fleshy and open-knit, displaying good cut to its ripe orchard and citrus fruit flavors. Shows a touch of gingery spiciness on the finish, which clings with good tenacity and building smokiness.
Wine Spectator 93 points - Elegant, with rich base notes of toasted brioche and smoke adding depth, this integrates finely honed acidity, detailed texture and flavors of black cherry puree, apple tarte Tatin, kumquat and grated ginger. Provides a creamy, mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2022. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 50,000 cases made. –AN

Wine Enthusiast 92 points - Toasty aromas leap from the glass in this deliciously mature wine. It is soft but still very dry, with acidity tamed by both fine, mature fruit and a creamy texture that sits well in the mouth. This is a very fine, tasty wine. Score: 92. —Roger Voss, December 01, 2005.
points - The 2000 Brut is round and generous in its candied apricots, honey and roasted nuts. The wine offers good length but not as much complexity or personality as I had hoped. The 2000 Brut is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. This bottle was disgorged in 2007. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2012.
