A sleek and friendly red, with
concentrated elements of dark red fruits and notes of charcoal
and mocha along with crushed plum and black cherry. Firm and
juicy tannins intermingle with a subtle hint of spice on the finish.
Les Grandes Vignes du Roy is made by Philippe du Roy de Blicquy of Domaine de Villeneuve in
Chateauneuf-du-Pape and his winemaker Philippe Cambie. The two developed Les Grandes Vignes du
Roy in the mid 1990's in order to produce authentic southern Rhone wines with respect to nature and
indigenous grapes. The grapes are grown on south-east facing slopes that are partially terraced and the
grapes are harvested by hand.
|(40% Grenache Blanc/30% Clairette/30% Roussanne).
Harvested from different parcels planted to a variety of soils- red
and yellow clays with chalk, and sand. The grapes were handpicked
and the wine aged on its fine lees in cement (90%) and in
one year old oak barrels (10%).
