A sweet bouquet of creme de cassis combines with licorice and peppery notes. Earthy hints are present as well. This wine displays moderate tannins on the palate with sweet, pure flavors.
Wine Advocate 90 points - The 2002 FA 112 is also organically produced with a composition of 65% Garnacha Negra, 25% Carinena, and 10% Syrah aged for 12 months in new French oak. Purple-hued, it has an expressive aromatic array of pain grille, slate, scorched earth, blueberry, and blackberry. Smooth-textured, layered, spicy, and well balanced, this tasty wine has enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years and drink well through 2020. (Feb 2008)
The name is an acronym for the aging process. FA stands for French Allier, 1 indicates barriques of 1st use, and 12 refers to the 12 months the wine remained in these aging containers. This is a very limited-production wine.
|An excellent accompaniment to red meats prepared with hearty sauces, such as roast beef with port sauce. Also try with stews.
