Light gold in color, Brut Premier boasts a smooth, full mouth. This elegant champagne is a delicate balance of fruit and acidity, an outstanding example of the Roederer tradition of producing wines of lean, firm structure with discreet fruit and subtle toast flavors.
Wine Advocate 92 points - The NV Brut Premier is a gorgeous wine that stands head and shoulders above the vast majority of wines in its price range. Apparently, it is quite possible to make great Champagne that doesn’t cost a small fortune. Ripe pears, smoke, spices, dried flowers and herbs are some of the many nuances that emerge from the glass. The Brut Premier shows lovely mid-palate depth and fabulous overall balance. Chef de Caves Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon has done it again. This is a fabulous Brut Premier. The Brut Premier is based on the 2007 vintage, with approximately 20% 2006 wines and 10% older reserves going back to 1996. The blend is approximately 40% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier and 40% Chardonnay. About 50% of the base wines underwent malolactic fermentation. Dosage is 9-10 grams per liter. This is Lot # L034638B102206. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015.  (Nov 2011)

Wine Enthusiast 92 points - This is a particularly good bottling of Brut Premier. Drawing on Roederer’s famed reserve wines, it has a touch of toast that adds a round character to well as fresh, vivid lemon and grapefruit flavors. Drink this delicious, rich wine now.  (Dec 2013)

Wine Spectator 91 points - Light and lively, featuring apple, toast, ginger and light vanilla flavors. Balanced and on the dry side, with a creamy texture and a lingering butter pastry aftertaste. Drink now through 2011. 42,000 cases imported. –BS The #95 in Wine Spectator's 2009 Top 100
The 2005 Brut Vintage blossoms on the palate with layers of deep, expressive fruit. The weight of of the Pinot comes through loud and clear in this rich, textured Champagne. Ripe red berries, pears, hazelnuts and spices are some of the nuances that are layered into the rich, textured finish. This is another fabulous showing from Roederer. The 2005 Brut is 70% Pinot Noir from Verzenay and 30% Chardonnay from Avize. Approximately 50% of the wine was fermented in oak, and the malo was blocked. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015.
Orange zest, bruised apple skin, coriander seed, and hedge flowers rise from the glass of Roederer 2006 Brut, a 70-30 Pinot-Chardonnay blend a third of which was aged in cask with weekly lees-stirring. The palate impression here is at once richly expansive and tactilely pungent, with apple and peach fruit sappy and ripe but prominently marked by the piquancy of pips and pit. A roughly ten gram dosage emphasizes the impression of fresh ripe apple in a long, juicy finish, if with a result that some may find a tad divisively sweet-tart. It would certainly be interesting to follow bottles for a couple of years to see whether further depth emerges.
In tasting Roederer’s 2008 Brut Rose, I am certainly reminded of the belief stated in their press releases that “a great rose Champagne must be made from very ripe grapes,” which, they go on to explain, is the reason why this cuvee is always predominantly informed by the steep, shallow-soiled, south-facing, waterside slopes of Cumieres. Certainly what has been extracted from the two-thirds Pinot here – colored via saignee – is an essence of ripe, juicy fresh red currant and red raspberry laced with lemon and orange rinds and perfectly set off by close to ten grams of residual sugar. A faintly sweaty tang and subtle suffusion of chalk add interest – and slight grain of tannin invigoration – to a lusciously refreshing but still very much fruit-dominated finish. I wouldn’t want to rule out some additional depth of flavor emerging over the next couple of years, but it would be a shame to miss out on this cuvee in its exuberantly fresh-fruited youth. (Nov 30 2009)

Champagne Louis Roederer, creator of the famous Cristal prestige cuvée, has been synonymous with the world’s great champagnes since 1776. Brut Premier is the House’s flagship multi-vintage champagne—its most popular and best-selling wine and the champagne that sets the house style for this esteemed producer.
Wine maker notes
Brut Premier is a blend of vintage wines, enhanced by the addition of 10% to 20% oak-aged wines from Roederer’s extensive reserve cellars. Grapes are used from only the finest crus with a rating of 98 or more on Champagne’s regional rating scale — Pinot Noir from the Valley of the Marne and Montagne de Reims; Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs. Roederer uses only the first pressings from these exceptional grapes for the standard-bearing Brut Premier. Finished wine is cellar-aged for an additional four years before release.
