Wine Advocate 87 points - The NV Brut offers up attractive notes of smoke, tar, rich ripe pears and flowers in a medium to full-bodied style. There is a good measure of persistence, although the wine could use a little more polish on the finish. This is Lot 14009913, disgorged between December, 2007 and January, 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010. (Dec 2008)
Wine Enthusiast 90 points - One of the most familiar of Champagnes, the Yellow Label is finely made-a fruity while structured wine. It has both fresh and fragrant fruit as well as richness, a soft, creamy texture and bright acidity. There is no sense in bottle aging here-drink this wine because of its crispness. (Dec 2013)
Wine Spectator 91 points - There's plenty of finesse in this smooth-textured Champagne, whose flavors evoke apricot, peach, vanilla pastry and mineral. Racy, with snappy acidity providing energy and driving the flavors to a long conclusion. Drink now through 2012. –BS
The standard-bearer, which, for many people, defines the classic taste of Champagne. Rich, round, lemony fruit fills the mouth, and there is a refreshing, lightly bitter, yeasty finish of citrus rind. P.G.
A forward cuvee that will last for another decade. It’s richness is exquisite. This will be a relatively long-lived, intense Champagne.
The dominantly tart apple character of Clicquots 2004 Brut makes for a piquant and invigorating if somewhat raw overall impression, incorporating as well overt yeastiness and hints of almond, apple pip, and lemon rind. Insofar as there are impressions here that I would deem “mineral, these are a faintly sweaty and slightly metallic note in the finish, which manage to fit the wines brash personality. I dont fancy this gaining from bottle age, though I readily confess my lack of experience with older representatives. (Nov 30 2009)
Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label is a perfect example of harmony between delicacy and power. Dominated by Pinot Noir, this wine has a firm structure, rounded with a touch of Pinot Meunier. Nearly a third of Chardonnay gives it the elegance and finesse needed for perfect balance.
A blend of fifty crus, mainly Grands and Premiers Crus. Consistent quality due to 25 to 35% of reserve wines.
|Each Cuvee is true to the Veuve Clicquot style and spirit, faithfully maintained from the time when Madame Clicquot was running the House under the motto, ”Only one quality, the finest”. Created with a majority of Pinot Noir in the blend, the Veuve Clicquot Champagne style is noted for a firm structure, full-bodied texture and rich aromas.
