The 2005 Black Bart "Stagecoach Vineyard" Syrah from Krupp Brothers Estates comes from a steep, south-facing block on the vineyard's Pritchard Hill. The wine is reddish black with aromas of violets and boysenberries with notes of vanilla and cinnamon from 16 months in 85% new French barriques. On the palate the wine boasts currant, dark cherry and plum flavors with hints of spicy black pepper. Well-structured with supple tannins and a silky finish, this big wine is perfect for a cowboy dinner like pepper-rubbed Porterhouse or a rack of lamb.
